RDIF and Brazil’s Parana state to partner to promote the world's first registered vaccine against coronavirus "Sputnik V"

Moscow, August 12, 2020 –The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Russia’s sovereign wealth fund, and the Parana state in Brazil, have agreed to cooperate to produce and distribute the world's first registered coronavirus vaccine in Brazil, known as “Sputnik V”. RDIF CEO, Kirill Dmitriev, and Governor of Parana state, Carlos Massa Ratiño Junior, took part in the online ceremony for the signing of the agreement.

As part of the strategic cooperation agreement, RDIF together with pharmaceutical companies in the state of Parana will organize the production of the “Sputnik V” vaccine and its distribution in Brazil and other Latin American countries. In the near future, RDIF and the Gamaleya National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology are ready to provide the Paraná State Institute of Technology (Tecpar) with the results of the clinical trials of the vaccine and technological protocols of its production

On August 11, the “Sputnik V” vaccine of the Gamaleya National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology was registered by the Ministry of Health of Russia, and became the world’s first registered vaccine against COVID-19.
