Press release, 27.03.2020

Moscow, March 27, 2020 - The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Russia’s sovereign wealth fund, announces that Rossiya Segodnya international news agency joins the Alliance against coronavirus (COVID-19). Rossiya Segodnya will actively participate in the information support of the Alliance's projects created by RDIF, RUIE (the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs), Yandex and Mail.ru Group.

The first joint project implemented by RDIF and Rossiya Segodnya in the context of the current fight against coronavirus was the publication of the “Handbook of COVID-19 Prevention and Treatment” in Russia, the world’s first information book to comprehensively describe the current experience in prevention and control, diagnosis and treatment, as well as caring for infected patients.

The handbook was compiled by the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, and is based on clinical data and China’s experience in the fight against coronavirus. RDIF, Rossiya Segodnya and Sechenov University supported the translation and publication of the handbook in Russia. It is distributed free of charge to medical institutions, enterprises and all interested specialists.

The high professionalism of Rossiya Segodnya and its quick delivery of up-to-date information will significantly strengthen the Alliance and fundamentally bolster the information support of its projects. The news agency has already demonstrated its ability to search for new practices and inform the public about them by publishing, together with RDIF, a Russian-language version of the manual for combating coronavirus which contains invaluable experience of the leading clinic in China, which has been at the forefront of the fight against the new virus. Reliability, high quality and speed of delivery of information provided by RIA Novosti and Sputnik, members of Rossiya Segodnya, have always been at their best, and now they remain the most complete sources of news for people.”

Dmitry Kiselev, Director General, Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency, said:
“We decided to join the alliance in order to fully utilize our capacities, all the resources of our international agency, for the most prompt and reliable distribution of information to people at this difficult period and for the search of new practices to fight coronavirus.
