BRICS countries can established artificial intelligence development alliance – RDIF
An alliance for artificial intelligence (AI) development can be established within the BRICS framework, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev told reporters on Thursday during the BRICS summit.
"RDIF has received a positive response from BRICS partners to the initiative of creating a joint alliance of BRICS countries for development of artificial intelligence technologies. In particular, RDIF partners from China and India showed high interest in particular. Alliance creation will make it possible to support synergy in AI development on account of implementing common standards by its participants and owing to establishment of competence centers, where RDIF will be one of them in Russia by agreement with the government," Dmitriev said.
As reported earlier, Russian technology companies signed an agreement on establishing an alliance for artificial intelligence development (AI-Russia Alliance). Its members are Gazprom Neft, the only industry representative, along with Internet majors Yandex and Mail.ru Group, Sberbank, mobile communications operator MTS, and the Russian Direct Investment Fund.
Achieving leading positions on global markets in the artificial intelligence sphere was declared as the goal of alliance members. Companies plan to simplify the rollout of AI technologies and will collaborate in developing the regulatory base for the pilotless transport. The twofold reduction of development time of oil greenfields can be among the effects of cooperation, providing a significant contribution into development of the Russian economy.
